Cathal Mullan qualified as a solicitor in September 2025 after a 2 year apprenticeship with Harte Coyle Collins training across all departments.
Cathal is from Magherafelt and graduated in 2019 with an LLB (Hons) in Law and Politics. He graduated with distinction in the Human Rights LLM (Masters) from Queen’s University Belfast in 2021. Before joining the firm as an apprentice solicitor Cathal worked as a paralegal in a public authority legal department gaining experience in a wide range of public law matters.
Cathal has a keen interest in the environmental issues with the focus of his postgraduate thesis being the nexus between property law and environmental degradation. He has been involved in a number of environmental campaigns across Northern Ireland to date and while an apprentice dealt with a successful environmental judicial review.
Cathal practises crminal defence law including arrests under the Police & Criminal Evidence Act and Magistrates/Crown Court cases, family law, litigation including judicial review and has a critical role in the Environmental Law Department launched by Harte Coyle Collins in 2024.
