Judicial review is a court mechanism which allows private individuals to challenge decisions made by Government and any other state body/public authority to the High Court in Belfast. High Court judges have discretion to review a government decision and decide if it is reasonable and/or fair.
The criteria for a judicial review challenge is simply that a decision by a statutory body is unreasonable or unfair .
Applicants for judicial review may qualify for civil legal aid if the Applicant meets the means criteria and if the Application involves a point of public interest.
